Rwanda and Zimbabwe Have Agreed to Cooperate in the Transportation of Railways

The Government of Rwanda and Zimbabwe have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the Transport of Railways.
This MOU was signed between the Zimbabwe Railway Transport Authority and the National Transport Development Agency in Rwanda (RTDA) on Thursday, September 9, 2021.

Minister of Infrastructure Amb. Claver Gatete, and Zimbabwe’s Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Felix Tapiwa Mhona, represented both countries in the signing of this MoU.

The agreement aims to strengthen cooperation in the areas of capacity building, staff exchanges, and expertise in the development of railroad transport, training, and other related programs.
During the visit, Minister Felix Tapiwa Mhona accompanied by the Ambassador of Zimbabwe to Rwanda Prof. Charity Manyeruke visited various infrastructure projects under construction in Rwanda.

Rwanda signed the agreement with Zimbabwe After it launched two Railway projects, even though the one that was to leave the port of Mombasa for Nairobi in Kenya and continue in Kampala and Kigali remained stagnant.
